I'm back! :)
Sep. 7th, 2010 06:24 pmWell, the Channel Islands weren’t just nice – they were amazing! One oft he most beautiful places I’ve ever been. Sark was just the right place to relax from school and work and all that other stuff that keeps piling up over time. The weather was beautiful – sunny but not too hot, windy but not too much, and one day there was jus enough spray and fog to make everything look extremely mysterious :)
So we spent most of our days dozing, hiking (or rather wandering about) the island, from bay to bay to bay :D I can’t express how incredibly beautiful every single place there is. We stayed in a very comfy B&B, pretty „central“. And I discovered the most delicious cheese :D
One night we wanted to do some star gazing (Sark hasn’t got any street lighting so you usually have a very beautiful starry sky), but well, we chose a full moon night – the moon was so bright we cast shadows. No stars for us, but silvery moonlight , eerie shadows an wind. I can’t complain, even if we didn’t get exactly what we wanted.
Next we returned to Guernsey. St Peter Port is a pretty place, but after staying on Sark, everything had to seem „less“, I guess. More people, cars again, etc.
But of course we did some bay-wandering there, too. And we went to Lihou, a tiny little island where you can walk only when the tide is low enough.
Being in places like this makes me dream of having a little (tiny would do, too :D) house there, a garden with vegetables, lilac, elder and lots of other growing stuff; a huge dog, some cats, some horses to visit … and an Internet connection. ;)
I have no idea if I could stand being there all the time, if I’d get lonely. But it sounds like heaven to me.
But now I’m back, working in a new department, again. But this time I’ll stay four months. Yay :D
In school, production was one of my favourite subjects, so now I’m pretty excited about being here for so long.
Internet wasn’t that great, actually. I expected to like it more. Much more.
